Single on VD? 5 simple tips for staying sane...
1. Do something positive and healthy for yourself. Go for a walk, try out a new recipe, or log onto duolingo.com and begin learning a new language. Do something, anything, other than sit and feel sorry for yourself or watch a sappy, unrealistic love story that will only serve to make you feel worse.
2. Spend time with your friends and make it a positive experience. If you know other singles, this can be a time to band together so that you're not alone. However, it is oh so easy for this to turn into a bitch fest where everyone complains about the dating scene and stuffs their face with chips and drinks way too much. Get together with others and do something other than complain about single hood. If you don't know anyone in this category, then strike out on your own.
3. Visit the grocery store and buy a small bouquet of flowers to leave at the front desk of a nursing home/assisted living facility for a complete stranger who is all alone. Even though it may not seem this way, there are plenty others in a situation much less desirable than yours.
4. Dogs provide people with unconditional love everyday. Consider visiting a local animal shelter and donating a used blanket or beach towel that you may no longer want or need.
5. Even if going to work seems torturous, try to make it through the day and reward yourself afterward. Focus on something (anything) other than your love life.
6. Read a "feel good" article about being single and empower yourself to make the most out of your life, regardless of your marital status!
